by Faith...

Hebrews 11 has been billed "the Hall of Faith."  So it is that this blogger would like to begin a study about those who "died in the faith" never having received the promise of that faith (v13).
The study will go through what the Lord has given this blogger regarding each believer but at the beginning, the current verse being studied centers on "Moses parents." Hebrews 11.23 says that "By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, Why? because they saw a proper child; and were not afraid of the king's commandment." Because of the faith of his parents or his "goodly heritage," lets examine what the Lord did through Moses...
1.  "He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter" (v24) - even though the Pharaoh's house is all he had known since infancy, somehow he knew he wasn't "one of them."  Do you suppose infants absorb emotion and sensations around them? If one is to take this verse, by faith, one would have to agree that they do. (Pro. 22 6)
A spiritual application would be when one is birthed into the family of God and comes to the Lord. One "turns from sin, by faith through the Lord Jesus, to God."  That is when the heart is illuminated to the truth of what the Lord Jesus did for a lost, dark, dying soul and one cannot stay in an unrepentant condition.

2.  Because of this early influence, before he was "drew out of the water," somehow he must've known what he was by birth or learned it somewhere along the way while growing up in the Pharaoh's house yet chose to "suffer affliction with the people of God, (rather than) enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season." (v25)   Again, can you see the influence you have over your youngster or those children whose paths you may cross?

How is it he knew of Christ 1400 plus years before He came to earth? "Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt..." (v26)                                                          Could it be one may see that Christ is indeed found in the Old Testament?
3. Hebrews also tells us that, "he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him (the Lord Jesus?) who is invisible." (v27)  Moses, had no desire for the world or the so called "treasures" to be offered as "son of the Pharaoh's daughter."  Do you seek worldly pleasures and thingsWould you rather be a friend of the world than a friend of Jesus?
4. He believed in the Lord Jesus and the promise of Him so much that "through faith he kept the passover..." (v28)  Do you believe the power of the Lord Jesus' blood to save you from eternal, spiritual death?

5. Because of his faith in the Lord he saw and was partaker in a mighty earthly miracle, the parting of the Red Sea, (v29) to the saving of a multitude of people, "his" people.  Do you believe the Christ Jesus can "save to the uttermost," all that believe?

As one can see by the points noted above,
  • faith believes the unbelievable
  • faith perseveres
  • faith is real
