The fifth installment of the series on faith will address Bro. Noah.
But to review:
- Faith of Moses' parents to make a hard choice.
- What is faith?
- God testified of Abel's faith.
- Enoch's testimony was that he "pleased God."
Hebrews 11.7 tells us that "
By faith Noah, being
warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an
ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and
became heir of the righteousness which is by faith."
Scripture says Noah was 601
years old when the waters were dried up. (Gen 7.6) So, six Hundred years old when
he finished building it. Some have estimated that it took 75–100 years
to build it, based on the mention of his age when he had sons, (Gen 5.32) but
there is no reference to him starting the ark when he had sons. So it
could have taken longer. We are not sure.
- First Noah was an old man when he began this difficult task.
- Second, his work pleased the Lord. We know this because the purpose of the Ark was "to the saving of his house."
There could be much discussion regarding the details of Noah's story but the two points above are enough. One is never too old to walk in the Lord's will - no matter how long it takes. Also, the benefit of such a testimony when one trusts the Lord is the assurance that all one's family is safe in the Ark. Of course, the Ark is the Lord Jesus Himself. This believer has a prayer regarding the salvation of three family members that are "outside" the Ark will one day be "safe in the Ark."
