Why do you do what you do?

It's been a while since last post.  This heart is turned in a new direction.  SS teaching is ended and this heart is awaiting His will for the next step in church life.  Until then, I Timothy is where current reading and devotion is taking place.

I Tim 1.5
"Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:"

If one is to have "charity" (love), "out of a pure heart and good conscience," then it reasons that one can have love from a heart and conscience that is not pure.
This is a pretty strong directive that clearly indicates one should always be in mind of the motive behind any "good work.

Verse four of this passage warns "Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do." Then, verse five explains why one would give heed to "nonsense."  If the heart is acting impulsively, without the love scripture exhorts to, one would be susceptible to those things that would lead the heart astray or worse cause permanent injury. When the heart is in error, the thinking is too.  Thus leading to the wrong motive for a "good work."

Just doing a good work " to be seen of men" NEVER magnifies the Lord.

Again, Why do YOU do what you do "for the Lord?"
